We believe in seeking connection and shared experiences that inspire. Our passion for culture and history drives us to delve beneath the skin of every destination we call home and sample a life of authenticity. We take pride in curating unique experiences punctuated with unforgettable moments that will delight and enrich for years to come.
At the heart of the Capella philosophy is our visionary curation of culture and experience.
Our Capella Culturists have spent time scouring Singapore, leaving no leaf unturned in our quest to provide you with unforgettable moments, immersing into the local community to engage and discover local heritage and culture, discovering new skills, and meeting some fascinating people along the way.
We understand escapism beyond the simple indulgence of travel and seek, through knowledge, empathy and respect for our surroundings, to create ‘Capella Curates’; a selection of experiences designed to become lifelong memories.
Our Capella Culturist come to life when acting in their role as chief storytellers and hotel historians. Our Culturist team takes pride in our neighbourhood’s unique history, reading everything on the history of Blakang Mati Island, Sentosa, to chronicle and preserve the resort’s stories and colonial past.
Zip through the city with our Culturist on a rare vintage sidecar to discover how feng shui has shaped the Singapore skyline, or immerse yourself into the life of a Singaporean and enter a local’s home to cook a Peranakan feast or join a mahjong game.
Your Capella Culturist will provide a full itinerary of activities and events hosted in the Living Room during your stay.
THE LIVING ROOM
Situated in a classic colonial bungalow built in the 1880s, Capella Singapore’s Living Room once accommodated British officers of the Royal Artillery and held extravagant officers’ balls. Retired as a place to dance, it has been sensitively restored and reborn as a retreat for guests during their stay, with delightful cakes and afternoon tea arranged each day. Find a spot and enjoy the daily cultural vignettes – often workshops or activities led by our culturists and local craftsmen. Capella Culturists hold court in the Living Room, taking you on an enthralling journey between Singapore’s colonial heritage and its multicultural society that celebrates the distinct ethnic groups.
NURTURING INDEPENDENCY AMONGST YOUTHS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
Singapore has been working towards a more inclusive society over the past decade. However, the hard truth remains that youths with special needs are still left forgotten in many instances. At Capella Singapore, we pledge to create an environment that uplifts and embraces young people with disabilities. Working synergistically with Association for Persons with Special Needs (ASPN), we empower our youths to harness their full potential through curated mentorship opportunities. Whether it is working with the chefs or creating engaging moments with our Capella Culturist, they are encouraged to explore and nurture their passions, strengths and talents.
By providing support and guidance, we strive to enrich the lives of our Capella Youth with a sense of belonging and readiness to confidently contribute back to their families and community.
